The Queen of Hearts echoed a sentiment that a lot of Brooklynites are feeling this winter. As blue-chips leap off the cliff of hope, dragging the Nikkei and everything else in the financial world down with them, it’s hard not to want to find an identifiable source of our impending doom. How did we get here? Who is responsible? Get your index finger ready to point at the face of blame. The guillotine might seem a little too harsh, so RecessionGirl is happy to introduce, Ariel Rubin to cushion the blow with imagery that is more whimsical, spirited and silly in this collection of photos titled ‘Box of Fools’.
Ariel Rubin is a multi-disciplinary artist working mediums including photography, multi-media, music and writing. Her photographs and writing have been included in publications including the Magenta Foundation’s book, Flash Forward 2006, Inscribed Magazine and The Globe and Mail.
